Mont Sutton 2012

Sutton. Even the name itself sounds intriguing. Mont Sutton, even more! It's no secret that I'm not a fan of large, crowded ski resorts. They are expensive, hipped up and simply too large to cater to the individual skier. This is of course generalization, but it's true in most cases.

Sutton is located in Eastern Townships, about 1 hour 15 minutes from downtown Montreal. You guessed it - due East! My good friend Michel Lafrance and his wife own a charming, upscale bed & breakfast "Les Caprices de Victoria" right on the main street. Michel and I have the same passion - paddling.

My first visit to Sutton was in January 2010. I loved what I saw. Picturesque village, beautiful mountain, adequate accommodation. Within 45 minutes drive from Sutton you'll find three more exciting ski destinations: Owl's Head, Bromont and Orford.

Some of my friends expressed a desire to change the scenery and ski elsewhere and not always Titus or Gore Mountains. To mix it up a little. I immediately thought of Sutton as a natural option.

And so, there will be a ski trips to Sutton this February, March and Christmas 2012.
