Gore March 2012 Update 19 March 2012

Hope everyone's back home safely, with many fine memories. I'll email a more comprehensive update later on, but wanted to answer few quick questions to help you reconcille the outstanding balances:

• If you acquired additional ski passes & lessons & at the Group Sales office, you can pay for them online here, same as you did for the original order. If you prefer to pay by cheque/cash, still process the order online and select form of payment "Check".
• Party tickets - some of you made it to the party (great!) but were unable to get ahold of me for the tickets. I'd appreciate it if you would take care of purchasing them online.
• Deadline for additional payments: Sunday 25th March
• Refunds - there are no refunds for unused ski passes & lessons
• Gore Guarantee - if you were injured on the slopes and were taken to the Gore First Aid clinic, you were given the Gore Guarantee for 2012/13 ski season; unused ski lessons - those of you who turned unused ski lessons to me will be given the Gore Guarantee vouchers for 2012/13 season. Gore Guarantee can only be obtained while you are on the mountain - you need to physically give the ski lesson vouchers to me.

Feedback - good, bad or indifferent...I value them all. Please post in on the forum rather than sending me an email.

Gore March 2012 Update 24 Feb 2012

Gore March 2012 Update 08 Feb 2012

The following comment applies to all ski trips:

(a) Please observe all deadlines; it helps me greatly if you don't wait for the last moment to submit your order. There is an enormous amount of work involved in getting everything ready for your arrival, so please submit your orders asap. That's how you can help me :)
(b) You have 10 days after the trip to report any unused passes&lessons&rentals and pay all additional passes, lessons, rentals, etc. that you owe me;\
(c.) It is your responsibility to be informed. I don't know or control who receives my email updates, much less who reads them. Check SKIJANJE website for periodic updates!

Gore March 2012 Update 05 Feb 2012

11:31am Issue is fixed and payment gateway switched to USD; Gore March 2012 menu enabled

10:30am I run into some issues with switching payments from CAD to USD,expect to resolve by noon today. Gore March 2012 catalog is off line until then.

Gore March 2012 Update # 5 (29 January 2012)

Gore March 2012 ski passes, lessons, party tickets etc. will be available later this week.

Gore March 2012 Update # 4 (14 January 2012)

This is a big one! I know some of you are still looking for accommodation and there is plenty available. Check the listing under “Available Homes” or call me directly for recommendations. Summit has been sold out for 4 months and I recommend you look elsewhere.
Some of you know and love Garnet Hill, a beautiful mountain next door to Gore. This is where I’ve stayed for the last six years. It’s located about 20-25 minutes drive from Gore. I will have Tea House and The Birches available for rent again this year, as the owners have changed. Tea House has 4 rooms, each equipped with microwave, small fridge and a coffee machine. The Birches has 5 large rooms and the communal full size kitchen.
Ski passes & lessons will be available online first week of February.
Schedule of events remains the same: Tuesday (Volleyball game), Wednesday (Tannery Pond movie), Thursday (NASTAR Avantura race), Friday (Party ).

Help me keep those lists current:

After you confirm your accommodation with the rental agency or the owner, please send a brief email to avantura@skijanje.ca with the name of the property/rental agency and dates of your stay. Always include your full name, phone number and the name of the other family, if sharing.

This is important so we don’t collectively waste time calling for homes that have already been booked. Owners and agencies occasionally send me the updates. I guess what I’m saying is – don’t let me find out from them were you’re staying :)

Update # 2, 2 November 2011, To: Returning skiers from 2011 Gore trip

This email is intended for those of you that skied at Gore in March 2011. If you're a new member of our group and would like to join us on Gore March 2012 trip, please wait for further instructions. You may not book accommodation at this point. Reservations for new skiers will start on 21th November.

March '11 Gore skiers - you have from 02 - 20 November to confirm the same accommodation you had in March 2011. I hope you know where you stayed last March, but if you don't, call me to find out. If you're looking to change the accommodation, please call me to discuss options.

If you are NOT going to ski at Gore in March '11, please inform me asap. You may not "give" your rental home to a friend - it goes back in the "pool".

Skiers that stayed at the Summit and booked with Cristy and Sue, you will find your information here(Gore March 2012\Accommodation\The Summit Homes). Sue is expecting your call.

Unfortunately, we lost few Summit homes where the owners decided not to rent in 2012 (D-1,E-15,J-5,O-45,O-47,H-60,B-10). Consequently, those families now don't have a confirmed reservation. I reached out to some of you already, and if I haven't please call me to discuss options.

Skiers that stayed at the Summit, Gore Village, Pine Ridge, etc and booked with John Hunter, you will find your information here (some Summit homes that John rented in '11 are now rented by Sue, check both lists). John has my list with 2011 names and is expecting your call.

Alpine Lodge, Adirondarck Rental, Holiday Inn Lake George - please check the 2011 listing under Gore March 2012\Accommodation.

Update # 1, 30 October, 2012, To: All Skiers

Few words about the reservation process for Gore March 2012 Ski Trip:

• Accommodation bookings will start very soon and will be done in several stages over the period of few weeks. Ski Pass & Lessons & Rentals etc. bookings will commence in early January 2012. March Break dates are 10-18 March 2012. Most rentals are Sunday-Sunday (11-18 March), but some allow Saturday-Saturday or even Saturday-Sunday.

• As always, returning skiers from 2011 Gore March trip will be given the first opportunity to book the same accommodation. Expect my email with instructions over the next few days. I’ll provide specific instructions for the groups that booked with Cristy & Sue (Summit), folks that booked with John Hunter (Summit, Pine Ridge, Gore Village, assorted private homes from John’s list), folks that stayed at the Alpine Lodge, Garnet Hill and other private homes. It will take approximately 2 weeks to sort out the accommodation for returning skiers from March 2011. For now, make sure you book the vacation days at work, find where you stayed last year (call me if you don't remember) and be ready for the next step. I ask that you notify me via email if you are not planning to ski at Gore in March 2012.

• In the second round, I’ll deal with skiers who would like to change accommodation from March ’11.  You’ll need to inform me about your circumstances so we can find a suitable option for March ’12.

• In the third round, it’s all about new skiers or “old” skiers who skipped Gore this year. I’ll provide you with available accommodation options after folks in first 2 groups are looked after.

• There are many more accommodation options in the Gore region now. I sincerely believe that everyone will have a fair chance to find a suitable rental.

If you’re new to our group and all this seems very weird, you’re probably right. But we managed well for 10+ years and this will be our 11^th return to Gore Mountain! Please feel free to call me if you have any question! When sending me an email, please use Subject Line "Gore March 2012".
